Raised on a dairy and grain farm in northern Illinois, I experienced plants and bugs at a very young age. It came as no surprise I have become very interested in California native plants and trees. I worked in the Biology lab through under-grad. Then, as a technician, I aided a post doctorate with research at the Forest Service PSW Fire Research Lab in post fire and restoration ecology. In 1997 I achieved a Bachelors from UC Riverside in Biology/Botany. Then I decided private research would be more interesting. I gained extensive knowledge and experience in areas such as plant pathology (disease), entomology (bugs), and plant genetics. However, I still felt a different a calling.

By 2001 I began applying my knowledge to a variety of private and commercial landscapes. In 2006 I became a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. Since then, I have worked closely with my clients to understand their wants and needs for their property. I help them achieve this in a sustainable way that is fire safe, provides defensible space, and properly cares for the trees and the environment all at the same time.
